Kayla Smith

Travel Advising and Itinerary Design

Hi, I’m Kayla, and I want to help you plan your next trip.

When I was a kid growing up in rural Mississippi, I didn’t know anyone who traveled internationally. From my earliest memories, I knew I wanted to explore the world, but I was led to assume that travel was inaccessible to anyone who wasn’t wealthy. I’m happy to tell you that’s not true.

I believe travel can be transformative. My goal as a Travel Advisor and Itinerary Designer is to create personalized experiences for people and help them fulfill their travel dreams, no matter their budget.

My enthusiasm for cultural immersion, food, and history knows no limits, and my insatiable curiosity led me to quit my job and travel around Europe for nearly half a year. Most of my own travels are solo budget trips, but I love planning travel for any budget and travel style (whether you’re looking for hostels or luxury hotels, planning a solo trip or a family vacation). I love combining off-the-beaten-path destinations and experiences with some can’t-miss attractions.

The price for a detailed personalized itinerary is $25 per itinerary day (and I can handle your hotel bookings at no additional cost!). This price includes an optional phone/video call to review your plans and one free revision based on any edits/additions you’d like to make.

For booking services only, there is no cost to you! You pay the same price that you'd pay to book accommodations, cruises, activities, and other travel services on your own. Guests who book with Travel Advisors are preferred clients at hotels, and you can often get additional perks or upgrades by booking with me. (Hotels pay me for bookings, so there's no added cost to clients!)

If you’re interested in working with me, please fill out the form below and tell me a little about the trip you want to take! I’d love to connect and see how I can best help you!

Kayla is the itinerary QUEEN for domestic and international travel itineraries!! In July 2024, she created the most perfect and incredibly detailed itineraries for my travel to Paris, France, and Rome, Italy... By preference my days were crammed packed and I was able to cover a lot of ground with my detailed itinerary. I met with Kayla for an interview consultation and provided her with anchors of must see/do activities that were mandatory in each city. She built out my itinerary that was included but not limited to: tour guides that had been vetted and were highly recommended; the best restaurant recommendations based on reviews and Kayla's knowledge for each area that I would be around for mealtime; detailed transportation logistics from point A to B that included rail routes; bus routes, and walking routes; and hidden gems based on my preferences along the way!!...If you are traveling and want to make the most of your time, you are doing yourself a disservice if you don't contact Kayla.

-Laura (first-time solo trip to Paris and Rome)

Kayla is the best! She help my husband and me plan our honeymoon in Italy and Switzerland and was a guiding light through an extremely overwhelming process. Neither of us had been to Europe before and Kayla gave us so much helpful information and reassurance. She has experience visiting these places so she had a lot of helpful insight. The tours she recommended for us in Rome and Florence were incredible and she put in so much extra work to keep an eye on tickets and prices. She fielded all of our random questions and laid out fabulous itineraries so that our trip was smooth sailing. She was even helpful while we were on the trip, making sure everything was going well. Our weekly calls during the planning process always made me feel like progress was being made and always put me at ease. Kayla is so easy to talk to, she understood the vibe of our trip instantly and helped us plan accordingly. She took the pressure off us by booking almost everything and then sent all tickets and info to me in an organized fashion. She truly made this trip easy and amazing, thanks Kayla!!

-Eva (honeymoon to Italy and Switzerland)

Kayla's travel planning made my trip to Barcelona unforgettable. She didn't just recommend the usual tourist spots--she curated a list of hidden speakeasies, tucked-away tapas bars, and local experiences I never would have found on my own. She also found our incredible hostel in the heart of the Gothic Quarter, and it remains one of my favorite places I've ever stayed. Thanks to her, I got to see a side of the city most visitors miss. It you want a truly unique and immersive trip, she's the one to hire.

-Samantha (couple's trip to Barcelona)

Kayla designed two itineraries for me: one in a city she previously lived in (New York), and one in a city she has only passed through (Denver). Both were huge hits! The documents were incredibly well-researched and thorough, and they saved me a ton of time. She was able to work with my trips' scheduling constraints and was sure to include can't-miss items as well as some less obvious gems. And in both cases, having someone do the research on how to navigate public transportation helped out immensely. The best part was her time estimates, so I knew how long I could spend in each location. It really takes a lot of the anxiety out of travelling. Highly recommend!

-Michael (brief trip to NYC and layover in Denver)

I can't wait to plan another trip with Kayla and I've already recommended her to 3 other friends. She is so organized, creative, and had great suggestions that I never would've thought of but were so much fun. Her enthusiasm for our trip got me even more excited to travel and I'm very impressed with her.

-Misty (writing retreat/friend trip to Uruguay and Argentina)

Kayla planned my first trip to Europe--also my first time visiting a country where I didn't speak the language. I can't imagine navigating this experience as smoothly without her expertise. Her deep knowledge of European travel, especially on a budget, made all the difference.

-Sam (solo work trip to the French Riviera)

Kayla was so helpful and patient with us as we had many questions. This was our first trip traveling abroad with kids and she was so kind and inclusive of their experience while traveling as well. Kayla is so knowledgeable and was a great resource before and during our trip.

-Autumn (family trip to London and Paris with 2 young kids)

Huge shoutout to Kayla who was our travel agent and made this adventure SO much more enjoyable and manageable. We had never used a travel agent before and I am grateful for Kayla's time and expertise. She booked big excursions for us and suggested activities and restaurants. We experienced so much more because of her help than we ever would have on our own. And it took out the decision fatigue of vacation too. Huge plus when doing a more ambitious trip like this.

-Alaina (Gulf Coast family road trip from Florida to New Orleans)

Sarajevo isn’t the most beautiful place I’ve ever been, but it’s one of the most fascinating. The little I knew about Sarajevo, and the rest of Bosnia and Herzegovina, before visiting was outdated by 30 years. The war here happened so recently that my school textbooks were published before it but so long ago that I barely remember. The first time I ever heard of a place called Bosnia, long before I could find it on a map, was in a kid’s chapter book about the war, and what I took away from the story was that this was a terrifying and dangerous place that a person should never visit.

What a gift it is to be able to correct your own past assumptions.

When I think about which places I’ve visited that I want to return to, Sarajevo is near the top of that list.
Leaving Budapest and the Schengen zone for Serbia Leaving Budapest and the Schengen zone for Serbia felt like heading into the Wild West—this was a very different Europe than I’d visited before. And to be honest, my first impression of Belgrade was not a good one. We arrived late at night after bus delays, and the bus station was closed. Late night transportation options were questionable, and taxi drivers kept approaching way too eagerly and offering rides for ridiculous prices. This could have happened in any city, but in the moment it felt sketchy and tense.

The next morning, the city felt considerably less sketchy but still cold and unwelcoming. It took half a day, but finally we found a couple modern and popular areas of town full of bookstores and music and better vibes. And while I still wouldn’t say I liked Belgrade much, I’m glad I visited and glad that I was able to change my mind after my initial impression. And of course, I ended up loving the rest of the Balkans.

I know so many people who LOVE Serbia. I’d love to go back and explore more of the country to find why they love it.

If you’ve ever wondered what I’m doing when I’m away traveling, it’s usually this.

Everyone, drop your favorite bookstore in the world in the comments! I’ll add them all to my travel list!
